林介文,1982年生,來自花蓮太魯閣族,曾就讀輔仁大學應用美術科系,隨後2008年於西班牙巴塞隆納自治大學浮游空間設計系取得碩士學位。作品關注族群遷徙、女性議題、自我認同等面向,並以此探討時空變異中傳統文化與現代都會生活交互影響下之意義消長與反思。曾在台灣各地、新克里多尼亞、中國、西班牙等地駐村創作,善於感受環境串連當地歷史背景現地創作。身為一個部落女性,林介文接觸編織的起始點來自於旅居巴塞隆納時,閒暇時間跟朋友學習毛線勾針開始。在這段時間,她常想起過世的奶奶在織布的情景,回台之後,在因緣際會下,林介文遇見一位特別的部落女性長者,開啟了對織布的全新視野。2015年成為母親後,創作成為自身經驗與記錄的媒介,從孕育生命到母子關係,以直白具象的方式表現在作品裡。目前於台灣與義大利兩地間往返居住,與義大利導演Tommaso Muzzi共同創立泥椅工作室,工作內容涉略策展與文化影像紀錄。曾經獲得2016年公共藝術環境融合獎與創作奬,2014和2016年Pulima藝術獎首獎等獎項。
Born in 1982, Labay Eyong is from Truku Tribe at Hwalien. She once studied at Department of Applied Arts of Fu Jen Catholic University and later received master degree of temporary space design from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Spain. Her artworks tend to focus on ethnic migration, women’s issues, and self-identity, etc. She also explores the significance growth and reflection under the interactive influence of traditional culture and modern urban lifestyle in the variation of time and space. Labay has applied for residency programs at serval spots in Taiwan as well as China, New Credonia, and Spain. She specializes in site-specific creation linking with her artistic feeling and local historical background.
As a woman in the tribe, Labay first encountered with weaving when she lived at Barcelona when she learned yarn crochet with friends during leisure time. During this period, she often thought of her deceased grandmother weaving textile. After returning to Taiwan, Under the fateful meeting, Labay met a very special female elder in the tribe and opened up her new vision of weaving.
Since 2015, art creation has become a medium for her own experiences and document when she became a mother at that year. From having a baby to forming a mother-son relationship, everything is expressed in works of art with a straightforward and concrete approach. Currently Labay lives and travels between Taiwan and Italy. She co-founds Nii Nami Studio with Italian director Tommaso Muzzi and the studio is aimed for curatorial affairs and culture video recordings. Labay received the Public Art Award – Environmental Integration Award and Creation Award in 2016, and the First Prize of Pulima Art Prize in 2014 and 2016.
