Born at Chia-yi City, Taiwan in 1978, Wu, Yi-Hua is assistant professor at Department of Fine Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts. She received Ph. D of aesthetics and science and art technology from Université Paris VIII in 2014. During her 14-year stay at Europe, Wu worked as reporter, art critics, and forum planning staff at Genève Active, a local cultural media based at Geneva, Switzerland. She acquainted with many Europe-based professional artists and artists from other backgrounds during this period. Wu develops a unique vision on arts other than the single-disciplined one from academic system and treats art creation with a cross-field and holistic viewpoint from those working experiences. This has further emerged as the contextual approach in her creative research in recent years, in which Wu wanders around between contemporary visual arts and performance arts seeking for certain types of “irregularity.” She said, “For more than a decade, in terms of interdisciplinary, I hope that plastic art and performance art in my creation could reach the conflict blending and symbiosis like the one between Dionysian culture and Apollo culture.”
