Born at Nantao in 1986, Kuo Yu-Ping graduated from the Graduate Institute of Trans-disciplinary Arts, TNUA. Her artworks tend to be in compound form consisting of paintings, video, installation, and actions to express a regret or scarcity in terms of the relationship between her own life experiences and the Big History. At the early stage, she focused on the unique nationality background at Taiwan and peculiar scenery of transplanting modernity. Artworks during this period often involved with changing landscapes and people’s memories. In recent years, she pays attention to the modernization process and political issues with rational criticism and responds as well as connects with schemes relating to time, history, and collective memories with her own life experiences and actions. In addition to external exploration, Kuo also delivers images of individual inner world with lively and affluent visual language. Her artworks often contain some weird and fantasy imagination and intuitive sensual expression.
