人稱「繪本阿公」的鄭明進（1932—）是台灣兒童美術教育的重要推手。
鄭明進出生於台北市，畢業於台北師範學校藝術科，並在國小擔任25年的美術教師，亦曾於漢聲圖書、雄獅美術、兒童日報、巧連智雜誌等單位擔任編輯顧問。積極投身兒童美育的他，與其他畫家組成「今日兒童美術教育研究會」。著有四十餘本童話圖書，於1992年獲信誼「幼兒文學奬特別貢獻獎」，素有「台灣兒童圖畫書教父」之稱。
鄭明進認為保有如兒童般的純真心理才更能領悟美的真諦，繪畫時重視表現心中感受。為慶祝繪本阿公的九十二歲大壽，本展展出藝術家多元材質的作品，期待透過「繪本阿公」的童真雙眼，讓我們重新欣賞平常生活的環境。
Known as “Grandpa Illustrator,” Cheng Ming-Chin (1932-) has played a pioneering role in developing art education for children in Taiwan.
Born in Taipei, Cheng graduated from the art department of Taipei Normal School. He was an elementary school art teacher for 25 years and an editorial consultant for several publishing houses. Dedicated in picture books for children, he along with other artists formed the Association of Todays’ Children Fine Arts Education. He has published more than 40 children’s books and received the Hsin-Yi Children Literature Award in 1992.
Cheng believes that the key to comprehending beauty is keeping a childlike mindset. He emphasized expressing feelings and emotion while making art. Celebrating Grandpa Illustrator’s 92nd birthday, this exhibition features the artist’s diverse works and allows us to appreciate the everyday life through the eyes of our Grandpa Illustrator.
